POST-VILLA PR MOVES FOR THE ISLANDERS
Admit it or not, we all love Love Island. The infamous ITV2 show has become a pipeline for aspiring influencers. Although most islanders do not reach Molly-Mae level of social media fame, they do exit the villa with at least a few hundred-thousand new followers, if not millions. And, in my opinion, this season has had the best cast yet. As the season comes to a close, I have been brainstorming what each islander should do to sustain and grow their fame as it reaches a whole new level. So, let’s get into it.
Ekin-Su - Although I was not a fan at first, Ekin-Su knows what she is doing; she is prime television. She brings us the entertainment we all crave. Love or hate, the woman has a gorgeous head of hair. Upon her exit from the villa, I see her partnering with a hair-extension company like RPZL and coming out with a collaboration line of clip-in or more permanent extensions. Ekin has the perfect balayage, and the line would mimic that look. I can also see her partnering with a UK-based fashion brand like PrettyLittleThing or Oh Polly. Very much like Molly Mae, Ekin loves a trendy mini dress from both brands.
Gemma - Much like Ekin, Gemma has hair for days. However, Gemma’s hair has never been touched; no bleach, highlights, or extensions. Nothing. So instead of an extensions brand, I can see her being the face of a hair pill company or even the new face of Olaplex or K18. And, of course, she will do even more advertising for her swimwear line OG Beachwear. Wearing her own designs day in and day out for the whole UK to see might be the best marketing strategy for the brand. Once Gemma exits the villa, I think Gemma should go live and walk all her new followers through the line. And last but not least, Gemma needs to work with Tiffany & Co. Or rather, Tiffany’s needs to work with Gemma. Her signature necklace may be worth more than the prize money, but boy, it is so gorgeous. It is cool and unique, just like Gemma. If Tiffany were to re-release the necklace in a cheaper version, they would have to have Gemma as the face of the line. Said partnership may be a tad too optimistic, but one can dream.
Tasha - I think that we can all agree that Tasha had the best fashion of the season. She took risks, was on trend without being too trendy, and always kept us on our toes. A favorite look of mine was her denim two-piece set. She also gets extra points because she is one of the few islanders who did not wear the god forsaken Poster-Girl Dress. Sincerely, thank you Tasha. So, it makes most sense for Tasha to partner with a fashionable brand like House of CB or Mistress Rocks. And of course, I think Tasha should work with Hearing Link, or another UK based charity for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Tasha’s superpower requires is quite impressive and I think using her platform for a cause that resonates so deeply for her would be very meaningful.
Luca - We need Luca to be the face of fish flops for a good laugh, now. I can’t help it, the man sells fish! In addition to his signature slides, Luca’s tattoos are his staple. As the resident islander covered in tats, it would only make sense for Luca to do a collaboration or partnership with Inkbox. Inkbox is a temporary tattoo brand that develop on your skin over time, causing the tattoos to look extremely real. Luca should either be the spokesperson for their next online campaign or come out with a collection of his own. I am thinking Inkbox versions of his tattoos (we would need the Einstein one) and a few more like a tattoo of fish flops. Inkbox has not previously utilized influencer marketing and I believe this partnership would be a great first experience into the world.
Davide - Davide needs a cooking show ASAP. Or even a limited reality series that follows him and Ekin around Italy and Turkey, trying different restaurants and, of course, bickering. Because of his strong connection to homemade meals, I think Davide should do a campaign with a meal service like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron. For his special edition campaign, Davide would offer some of his family recipes to be made at home, which would have to include his carbonara and tiramisu dishes.
And there you have it, all the marketing predictions / wishes I have for the islanders of Love Island Season 8. I am missing many, but these are the islanders I believe will have the most fame following the show!
